Piccolino Sheffield
Living and eating in Sheffield my whole life I'd like to think I have a good feel for the area and its surroundings. I first visited Piccolino Restaurant Sheffield for my 18th Birthday a whopping 8 years ago now! So I was thrilled to go back and experience this delightful Italian bringing Sicily to Sheffield.

The Review
I can't believe I left it so long to revisit Piccolino Restaurant Sheffield. While it's a chain it doesn't feel that way with the actual location being in the heart of the city centre right by the peace gardens. The restaurant itself is stunning, especially the outdoor dining terraces. Everything from heated lamps to retractable roofs to make alfresco dining perfect whatever the season.
The food choice on offer brings together the traditional classics and modern twists of your favourite Italian dishes. I decided on a Piccante Pizza which combines Spicy Calabrian sausage, roast red
pepper, tomato & Campania
buffalo mozzarella on an authentic Italian base. Now you can take me to any fancy Italian and I'll always pick pizza. I'm a complete pizza fiend whether it's authentic or a takeaway pizza it's my all-time favourite food.
I was impressed with my choice, the Calabrian sausage had a real spicy kick and the tomatoey base was delicious. I had a side of house fries which can't be underestimated at all! Locally sourced produce and really delicious skin on fries which had that home-cooked taste but with super delicious seasoning they were utterly moreish and I wish we'd ordered two rather than sharing one!
Once we'd demolished our mains (the pizza was thin but very filling) we had a look at the Dessert menu and the Tortino Al Cioccolato jumped out at us, described as a warm chocolate fondant stuffed with chocolate truffles and vanilla ice cream my mouth was salivating at the thought and it certainly didn't disappoint. A super-rich chocolatey fondant coated in delicious chocolate ganache that simply oozed in the middle with the chocolate truffles it was the kind of dessert where no words are spoken just lot's of mmmm's muttered. It was incredibly decadent and the vanilla bean ice cream cut through the richness perfectly and was ultra-creamy. The pizza was delicious but for me, the Dessert was on another level
I certainly won't be leaving it so long for my next visit to Piccolino Restaurant Sheffield and I definitely will be heading back to enjoy some alfresco dining this summer
