Autumn Walks with Lighthouse Clothing

Maternity friendly coats with Lighthouse Clothing

I love Autumn, it’s my favourite time of year. The crisp weather and changing seasons. The leaves falling from the trees and the getting cosier inside the house with blankets and candles to set the mood. One thing I do always struggle with is Autumn weather appropriate clothing. Trying to predict the British weather is genuinely impossible you can be wearing your flip flops one minute and then need your wellies the next!

Choosing appropriate clothing was even more difficult this year as I’m in the third trimester of my pregnancy with a very prominent bump. I was thrilled to discover the Abigail coat from Lighthouse Clothing*

What I'm Wearing

Halloween is one of my favourite times, I just adore spooky season and all the scary movies and Halloween treats. This Halloween we headed out to Elsecar Heritage Centre which is a short drive away for an Autumn / Halloween gift fair. It was absolutely bucketing it down. Luckily the actual fair was indoors so we had a good wander and mooch around at all of the lovely independent businesses and their wares.

If we excuse the very tired looking pumpkin I’m resembling in this picture (thanks 3rd trimester!) I was so pleased to get out and about this Halloween and be warm and comfortable in my new coat. The Abigail coat is perfect for transitioning from Autumn to Winter. It’s ¾ length (unless you’re as short as me, it comes to around my knees) and is waterproof, windproof and breathable with a super soft shearling fleece lining

Available in either navy blue or red, the Abigail coat has such really beautiful details such as roomy pockets and even an inside zipped pocket which is really useful. It has a curved hem at the back with popper buttons which is such a good idea for when you’re sitting down.

My absolute favourite part of the coat which has meant it was super maternity friendly for me this Autumn is the two way front zip. It means that as my bump has grown I’ve had the freedom to fasten the coat up completely or have it slightly fastened to give my bump some room. I wanted a coat that would last beyond pregnancy and thankfully this beautiful coat from Lighthouse Clothing has real staying power. I can’t wait for it to see me through the last part of my pregnancy and then all over again during the cold start to 2022.

I’ve road tested the coat in the whole host of wonderful British weather from the Autumn sun to absolute downpours and ferocious winds. The coat has completely stood up to all weathers and still looks brand new. It’s really good to get a waterproof coat that is actually waterproof without feeling like plastic.

I’m not sure how many more long walks I’ll get on pre-baby - I'm more suited to Autumn meals right now, but I’m seriously looking forward to getting wrapped up and heading out on some winter snow walks and from what I’ve found so far the Abigail coat will absolutely stand up to the weather!

Where do you get your winter coats from?
